Week 9 - with the cousins

On Sunday March 9, Uncle Mike and Aunt Bev threw a get-together for a variety of reasons, which gave Taylor the opportunity to meet the rest of her Ardmore cousins. Ariel and Amy found Taylor playing on the bed, and joined in the party.

One reason for the get-together was to be with 7½-month-old Ariel, who was diagnosed with hydrocephalus this past week. According to the Hydrocephalus Association:

Hydrocephalus is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within cavities called ventricles inside the brain. CSF is produced in the ventricles, circulates through the ventricular system and is absorbed into the bloodstream. . . .
Hydrocephalus occurs when there is an imbalance between the amount of CSF that is produced and the rate at which it is absorbed. As the CSF builds up, it causes the ventricles to enlarge and the pressure inside the head to increase.

Ariel will be seeing specialists at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL this week for further diagnosis and treatment options. Mike and Bev ask for love and prayers for little Ariel and all their family through this challenge.

Week 9

What an adventure the past two weeks have been. On Monday March 3, Elizabeth went back to work and Taylor started daycare. She is the only infant (under a year) at her daycare, and is enjoying all the love and affection from all her wonderful teachers. Being the only infant, she has her own side of the room and her own teacher, but we hear all the teachers like to come visit and help with feedings.

Taylor also got to meet more of the family this week, including all her Ardmore cousins - photo evidence in the adjoining post.
