Bunch of back story to get to the real story. First, if you don’t know Taylor’s beginning, go here and read it. It’s awesome. Second, Marilyn Hickey, a big name evangelist in the Assemblies of God (remember I work for an AG church?) gave me a blanket as a thank you for helping coordinate when she was here last year. It has stars all over it and different scripture verses and Taylor loves it.
A couple weeks ago, Taylor wanted to know what the letters on her blanket said so I was reading them to her. Proverbs 3:5a is on there. I said, “Now this one is extra special.” The whole thing (vs 5-6)Â says: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” I told her that when she was born, she was very sick and that was one of the songs played at church and that it helped mommy & daddy know that God would take care of her and He did (she grinned). I asked if she wanted to hear the song, she did, and I sang it. Then she asked me to sing it again and again and again, etc.
Fast forward to this past Sunday night and she, out of the blue and in the bath tub, asked me to sing “that trust the Lord song.” So I did and she asked for it repeatedly while we were getting out of the tub and going through our regular bedtime ritual. Brian heard us and grabbed his guitar. By the time he got the chords down, we were in her bed about to be ready to read a book and go to bed. He came in and we started singing it again. It was really sweet. She also held the pick and strummed while Brian changed chords and we sang it. By the time we decided we *had* to get her in bed, she was singing parts of it. It was just so sweet I cried – to think, my baby who almost didn’t make it now singing the song that helped me get through it. I love it!
That is so awesome. In time she will know her early story quite well. Her interest now is indicative of that! Encourage her!
