Visiting Ja & Christy

A couple weeks ago, Taylor and Elizabeth took off for a weekend in Atlanta with Ja & Christy. Unfortunately, I had to miss the trip because I had already planned on drinking a lot of beer and playing Xbox all night attending a media conference. So off the girls went on their weekend trip.

I’m hoping Elizabeth will come in here and add some captions for us.

Christy did a great job taking pictures – despite the fact that she insisted that I be in some. I must admit, though, the ones with me & Taylor are nice. I love Taylor’s pose in the one above and, though my grin is mid-stride, you can see that I’m looking at her and just enjoying watching her.

There was a little boy there whose mom said, “Kiss the deer!” at which point I cringed. Yes it’s a sweet picture but these animals are free to roam all over this place and there’s no telling what they pick up! We didn’t check her for deer ticks, but since that was a good month ago and nothing’s happened, I think we’re clear.

My turn at the camera! This is Christy and she is a NUT for animals and could’ve easily spent all day at this place. This place, btw, is Noah’s Ark. It’s a habitat for animals and they have a home for children there are well. The older ones help in taking care of the animals and the facilities. It’s a really neat place and Christy could easily spend all day every day there.

No doubt, this is definitely my daughter. – Brian

Although it was Saturday, Kenny & Lauren just happened to be in Atlanta the same time we were so we decided to have Saturday Pie Day. Not quite the ring of Friday Pie Day but Taylor doesn’t seem to mind! We had a blast and missed Brian terribly. There were text messages sent to Brian of Kenny’s misconduct with Brian’s XM (which Brian had let me borrow the weekend! That’s big, folks.) With the great fun we had with just us, Kenny & Lauren, and Ja & Christy, I can’t wait to get Brian thrown into the mix in person… we had way too much fun and ended up closing the place down (at a whopping 10 pm).

More after the jump …

A tender Mommy-Daughter moment at a petting zoo, the name of which I’m hoping Elizabeth will add here later. Elizabeth: Noah’s Ark… great place, go visit, donate. And while that picture looks really sweet, it took 3 or 4 tries before we got it timed right with the camera (aw shucks, I had to kiss my daughter 3 or 4 times! 🙂 ).

It’s common at this place to have “wild” animals roaming around. Many of them have become accustomed to people and will let you pet them. As we were leaving, Christy spotted one of the wild pigs letting people pet it and tried to get us to go pet it too. Unfortunately, Taylor was at the point of wanting to be carried (she’s 43 lbs!!) and the pig was completely and utterly in the opposite direction of the exit! Maybe next time.

Can’t remember the boy’s name but they make cute pictures together!

Christy & I were farther away than these pictures appear (zoom is a wonderful thing). Taylor was tired and pouty. I was calling to her and she was being 3 and stayed at the bench (can’t blame her, it was hot and she was tired and hungry. She did very well in light of all that). Anyway, the pictures that weren’t zoomed in didn’t come out because of lighting and I think at this point, Taylor knew what we were up to… but they’re still cute!

And this one surprised me… she looks so much like her cousin Ariel it boggles my mind. There was a photo we found once of Mike holding Ariel… the only thing that gives away that it’s Mike is a necklace that I remember him having. Ariel was a few months old in the picture and Taylor, at the time, was a couple months old. They looked just alike in that picture. DNA is odd that way, don’tcha think?
