What an imagination! (and other ramblings)

She likes naming things… in this post, she named her plastic fork and knife. She’s also named her fingers when she’s pretend playing and even with a little nursery rhyme (she  named her that little finger):
             1, 2, 3, 4, 5, once I caught a fish alive.
             6, 7, 8, 9, 10, then I let him go again.
Why did you let him go?
Because he bit my finger so.
             Which finger did he bite?
This little finger on the right!
Boom buduh boom boom… boom boom!

Backstory: Sunday, we went to Epiphany where I got the pleasure of being guest organist. They have started a children’s church and Taylor went to that. After church, she was walking around with two plastic horses (a mama and baby) that she insisted were hers and that the teacher had given to her to take home. We were finally able to verify that, yes, there is a grab bag and those were indeed her horses to keep and take home.

Well, last night she had a really bad fever and this morning, though fever was back to normal I fretted enough about it and the new cough I was hearing that her darling daddy took her to the doctor this morning. I packed her backpack with the horses, coloring book, and doctor kit.

(here’s the imagination part!!) While I was at work, I got a text message from Brian: “Her baby pony’s name is Panda.”  I asked about the mama and received promptly, “Zimes she says.” (and, of course, ramblings) After a few more text messages including one from her telling me she loves me and one from me saying, “I want my baby!” My phone rang. I saw Brian’s number, picked up, and said, “Hi.” Taylor said, “Hey mama!”  🙂 🙂 🙂

For the record, doc believes it’s croup. I’ve heard some folks say it’s the kid version of bronchitis (and I do remember coming down with bronchitis about a week after Taylor had the croup last year and Brian’s been coughing for a few days now!) and I’ve also heard that the term “croup” is right up there with the term “colic.” Colic: We can’t find any other reason why your child is screaming, so we’re calling it colic.  Croup: We can’t find any other reason why your child is feverish and coughing, so we’re calling it croup. Doc told Brian to call him back later this afternoon and let him know if Taylor’s cough gets worse after playing. If so, he’s saying “croup.”

So… every sick child’s dream: “You’re out sick today. Let’s go outside and play!”   Something just doesn’t feel right about that. Maybe it’s the whole, “That’s not fair! I had to stay inside in bed when I was sick!”

Comments

  1. Post a picture or two of my baby so I won’t have to use my imagination of how she’s growing!!! :):):)

  2. You know, I remember getting croup…and it was no walk in the park. I had to do breathing treatments and go to the hospital. I wonder if ‘croup’ has become more casual these days?
