April 30 - Cologne
The red brick on the cathedral looks a tad out of place, doesn't it? This was damage sustained in WWII. Near the cathedral is a bus depot, which was suppose to have been the target. Stray bombs damaged a portion of the cathedral by mistake. In repairing the damage, it was decided to leave that portion as red brick to serve as a reminder of damage caused during the war.
